Dangerous Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

Ridley Duchannes will be the first to tell you that she's a bad girl. She's Dark. She's a Siren. You can never trust her, or even yourself when she's around. Lucky for her, Wesley "Link" Lincoln can never seem to remember that; quarter Incubus or not, his heart is Mortal when it comes to Ridley. When Link heads to New York City to start a music career, Ridley goes along for the ride-and she has her own reasons. As if leaving small-town Gatlin for the big city, trying to form a band, and surviving life with a partially reformed Siren isn't hard enough already, Link soon learns he has a price on his head that no Caster or Mortal can ever pay.

Ugh....This review is kind of difficult for me. As you might know, if you read my reviews of the other books in this series, I didn't care much for Beautiful Creatures books.... Lena was way to emo. However, the two characters I did enjoy were Siren Ridley and crazy Link the half Incubus and their twisted wild relationship. So when I found out they were getting their own spin off series I was a little bit happy about it, though not happy enough to buy it with my own pocket money. Goddess bless the public library system.

There were several things I liked about this book, the fast pace, the interesting characters, the in depth look into Casters other than Lena and her weird family and the action packed plot. I especially liked Dark Caster Lennox Gates...mmmm mmmmm good.

However I did not like what the authors did to Ridley and Link. When did Link get all holier than thou? I thought he loved Ridley for who she was? Understanding that she was a Dark Caster, a Siren, isn't that what made their relationship in the other novels work? The fact that he loved her for her and while understanding that she didn't want to be evil, he also didn't want to change her? Well I guess the authors decided enough of that crap, cause this book is full for Link Siren-Shaming Ridley, trying to change her, being down on her and just driving me crazy until I was like, "I am so done with Link, man I hope Ridley hooks up with Nox."

And Ridley? I loved her because she was a tough bitch with a semi soft center who looked out for herself, had trouble expressing her emotions and truly seemed to love her abilities and revel in them and what they could do for her. Sexy, smart and ambitious...But this novel made her sad, sniveling and weak, forever caring about what others thought of her, feeling weird about using her powers and not ditching Link when he becomes a total controlling ass wipe!

The authors also set this story up for a love triangle, which I hate. Ridley should be with Nox, since he understands her and Link should be with Floyd since they were two peas in a pod. This is going to be a series and ends in a rather abrupt cliff hanger and I am not sure if I will even pick up the next one.

If I could sum this novel up in one word it would be: disappointment.
