Dead House by Dawn Kurtagich

Over two decades have passed since the fire at Elmbridge High, an inferno that took the lives of three teenagers. Not much was known about the events leading up to the tragedy - only that one student, Carly Johnson, vanished without a trace...

...until a diary is found hidden in the ruins.

But the diary, badly scorched, does not belong to Carly Johnson. It belongs to Kaitlyn Johnson, a girl who shouldn't exist Who was Kaitlyn? Why did she come out only at night? What is her connection to Carly?

The case has been reopened. Police records are being reexamined: psychiatric reports, video footage, text messages, e-mails. And the diary.

The diary that paints a much more sinister version of events than was ever made publicly known

A month or more before Halloween and less than a month before the release of Crimson Peak: Dead House was just what I needed. Not so much a ghost story, more like a demon/insanity story. This novel was dark, funny, creepy and twisted. It is written in "found footage" style. Diary entries, transcripts of interviews and police reports and video footage. In the end you are not sure if the MC in just a lunatic who suffered from DID (formely called Multiple Personality Disorder) or if there is a darker much creepier force at work. They way the book plays out it truly could be either one. It's all about how you like your scary novels? Realistic or fantastic? Either way this novel will satisfy you, skeptic or true believer. There is also a terrific couple of twists at the end.

I enjoyed this so much that I gobbled up page after paper and had it read in a little over a day, it has been a while since I stayed up all night reading a book....I even braved reading it at night by myself it was so good. I don't do that often with scary books cause I have been afraid of the dark since I was about 5.

Top Ten Tuesday:Freebie: Top Ten of the most Disgusting Books I Have Read

Top Ten Tuesday is Hosted by The Broke and Bookish.
This week is a freebie! I decided to do something a little funny. So this week is the Top Ten books I have been the most disgusted by. This doesn't mean they were all bad, just that a concept within the book made me go "eeeeewww."

1) This was good, but some seriously graphic horror. My REVIEW

2) This was GREAT but it is about a family that eats people, so it had a few yucky scenes. My Review

3) This book was awful and had a horrible dream scene where the guy's dad rapes him.

4) Worse book I have read this year and seriously nasty. Check out my Review Here

5) For obvious reason, it is about a grown man who molests a young girl. Beautifully written though.

6) I liked this ok when I first read it, it does have a few grahic sex scenes that made me go "whaa....at?" Polished wooden dildo

7) This book was awful and gross, there was a scene where squirrels are in a little girls panties. Review

8) I listened to this (David Tennant reads it) and 3/5 BUT there are som seriously big and gross bugs in this story.

9) Everything about the Mayfair Witches book borderline on the gross and obscene. I hate this series

10) I like this book quite a bit, but the sex scene between Snow White and Prince Charming is pretty unsexy and nasty.
